Curriculum

An Inclusive, Progression-Led Pathway (Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4)

Performing Arts

Our curriculum is a dynamic, inclusive framework designed to nurture every young person. We align our structured performing arts syllabus with a dedicated Skills Development Framework that explicitly targets core life skills: Confidence, Communication, Collaboration, Resilience, and Self-Regulation. This dual focus ensures artistic progression and personal development are interwoven, providing a transformative educational experience for all learners, including those facing disengagement, SEND needs, behavioural challenges, anxiety, and unmet EHCP requirements.

Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6)

Building Foundations & Belonging

Our KS2 program creates a safe, predictable environment where exploration and positive reinforcement build foundational skills and a sense of belonging. The curriculum is differentiated by outcome and process, allowing each child to engage at their own level.

Students gain Confidence through regular, low-pressure sharing. Performances are celebratory, focusing on participation and effort. The Skills Framework tracks growth in turn-taking, following instructions, and expressing ideas within a supportive ensemble.

Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9)

Developing Technique & Self-Identity

KS3 focuses on refining skills while providing structured choices that foster agency and self-identity. The curriculum offers multiple entry points to complex material, supporting adolescents in navigating challenges and building self-efficacy.

Students undertake projects that require planning, negotiation, and peer feedback, directly applying Collaboration and Self-Regulation. Performances provide managed, graduated exposure to challenge, building stress tolerance and a “can-do” mindset tracked through our Skills Framework.

Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11)

Mastery, Agency & Transition

Our KS4 programme is a bespoke pathway focusing on vocational skills, personal agency, and successful transition. It is highly individualized, often integrating EHCP goals and providing a tangible alternative to disengagement, culminating in accredited outcomes where appropriate.

Students co-create final projects or performances, taking ownership of the process from concept to execution. This demonstrates mastery of the full Skills Framework. We support transitions by building portfolios, preparing for further education, and articulating the life skills gained through their artistic journey.
